Don't Eat the Brownies

Sweets are no stranger at our house, so it was nothing out of the ordinary when I made a batch of triple chocolate fudge brownies. After the brownies were finished, I let them cool, cut them, and displayed them on the kitchen table for HUMANS to enjoy... I went outside to grab the mail and when i return a short five minutes later the brownie platter was on the floor and the brownies had all disappeared. They disappeared not by magic, but by a chocolate loving pup named Tank. I immediately freak out because this was astounding amount of chocolate and he had eaten the whole batch without leaving any crumbs! I rapidly call the vet and they said to bring him in urgently because this much chocolate is deadly and can make quick action as far as getting sick.       After arriving at the vet they immediately feed him liquefied charcoal to make him throw up the brownies and to help break down whatever remaining chocolate would remain in his body. I tho...

Pondering

Image
On days it is not super hot or frigid cold in south Texas I will leave the front door open to the porch and let Tank walk in and out. I remember having the door open all afternoon and forgot about it, I then noticed Tank wasn't inside (forgetting the door is open) and I freak out a minute and run around looking for him to find him outside pondering. I approached him quietly, it was funny to imagine what he could possibly be thinking about. Life as a dog can not be that stressful, but in this picture he's looking off into noting and seems to be in deep thought. Now I could be totally over thinking this, for all I know he's looking at a squirrel in a tree. But I think I am going to tell myself that my dog is having a intellectual conversation with himself, because it sounds better than him looking at a squirrel for twenty minutes.

Don't Fall In

Image
If you don't already know most bulldogs cannot swim, they are top heavy with short legs so deep water doesn't work out well for them; and if they can swim, they cant for very long. Tank found this out earlier in life, he once took a big jump into the pool and sank straight to the bottom. Thankfully he was just a puppy so I brought him back up easily, but ever since then he has been terrified of water. Except for this warm April day, I thought it was funny he risked falling into 10 foot deep water for a drink form our water slide when he had a dog bowl full of water! Maybe he likes to live life on the edge??? Note: I was on the other side of the slide in case he were to fall in.

Allergies Gone Bad

Image
I did not know this about dogs, but just like humans they can get allergies too! Allergies are partially more common in breeds like bulldogs, so every year Tank and I get to suffer through the weather changes together! Well this year this poor guy got the worse case of allergies and caused him to get a second degree ear infection, which actually through off his balance and he was very limited to do any activities for about a week. So you may be wondering about the cone... well since his ear was so infected he kept wanting to scratch it! So in order to prevent him from hurting himself from continuous scratching he got a cone. Which he absolutely hated, ran into everything, and was very very mad at me for putting it on him.

Lesson Not Learned

Image
Tanky boy is not a fan of water of any sort so after his bath he is super excited its over and runs around like a crazy dog. He looks pretty athletic jumping off the couch and sprinting across the living room. Well that is until his hind legs fall out from under him when he jumps back on! (Trust me, he still hasn't learned his lesson about this.)

MINE

I would say Tank has more toys than the average pup, although he only has a few favorites. Two of them are his football and his tug-a-rope. He loves for people to play with him, but he doesn't necessarily have the right concept. See how hes laying there all cute?        No, its not like that. He wont give you those toys to play fetch or to play with them at all, he would rather you chase him around and try and steal them! There is no fetching with Tank, instead you'll just have to play his own game, "catch/ steal from me if you can." Notice how he is laying down calmly with his toys clearly in the middle of his paws for safety? That is when you know he's ready for you to come play! Or at least try to anyways...

What was that?

As the owner of a breed who is known for being a little bit on the fluffy side and having adorable rolls, I this its important to keep them healthy. Therefore, Tank finds himself on short walks nearly every day, but after 3 years of doing this I have to ask... Can dogs be ADHD?! This guy cannot let any sound he hears go, it is like he thinks something big and bad is coming after him and if he doesn't stand still for at least 2 minutes and look in that direction he's a goner. Little did he know all he was starring at was the falling of an acorn. As you can imagine most of these walks turn into standing around watching acorns hit that ground.
